Sensory Friendly Film –The Good Dinosaur

Saturday, December 5, 2015
10:00am

AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program.

To provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie.

Audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other words, AMC's "Silence is Golden®" policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned.

Tickets are $4-6 depending on location and can be purchased on the day of the event.
AMC Forum 30 44681 Mound Rd, Sterling Heights, Mich. 48314

Friendship Club Social

Saturday, January 30, 2016
7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Friendship Club Autism Social is an event that takes place almost every month at St. Anastasia Activity Center in Troy, Michigan. It is an opportunity for teens and young adults within the autism spectrum, including individuals with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Development Disorders, to get together and have fun!

We urge you to always check this website on the day of the social to make sure the event has not been cancelled
due to an emergency, bad weather or other unforeseen problem. http://autismsocial.weebly.com/

We have all types of activities including:

  • Ping Pong, Basketball, and Floor Hockey. Please bring GYM SHOES with WHITE BOTTOMS to play basketball or hockey in the gym. (Do not wear black shoes because they will mark up the gym floor.)
  • DANCING! At about 9:30, we even have a DJ for those who enjoy dancing. Dance music provided by DJ - David DeWitt Taylor of "Dazzle Do Time" http://www.dazzledotime.com/
  • Video Games and Board Games. Bring your own board games if you like.
  • Pizza and Refreshments are provided.

Cost: $5.00 per person. (Unless specified otherwise.) This includes snacks, pizza/salad, pop and also helps us with the expenses of running the socials.

Parents, siblings, friends are welcome to come. Attendees should be 13 years or older, please, as this event is geared for teens/young adults.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This is not a "facilitated" event and volunteers/organizers cannot be responsible for attendees. We encourage parents/care providers to stay at the events at all times at every event because volunteers are not able to provide care or monitor behavior.

*** First time attendees may not be dropped off and left at the event without a parent/caregiver.
